This Privacy and Cookie Policy explains how I collect, use, share, and protect information when you visit prabhat.dev, subscribe to the newsletter, or contact me. It also explains how cookies and similar technologies are used and how you can manage your choices.
The person responsible for this website is Prabhat Kashyap, based in Noida, India. For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected].
Information I collect
Information you provide
- Newsletter subscription: Your email address, subscription status, consent record, subscription time, and the form used to subscribe. The newsletter uses double opt-in, so you are added only after confirming through the email sent to you.
- Direct communication: Information you include when you email me or contact me through an external service such as LinkedIn, X, or GitHub.
The website does not offer public user accounts, payments, or a contact form.
Information collected automatically
Depending on your consent choices and the services involved, technical information may be processed when you visit the site. This can include your IP address, approximate location, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, interactions, timestamps, consent preferences, and security events.
How I use information
- To deliver the newsletter and maintain proof of subscription consent.
- To understand how readers find and use the site, where analytics consent has been granted.
- To operate, secure, back up, cache, and troubleshoot the website.
- To prevent spam, abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access.
- To respond to messages and privacy requests.
- To comply with applicable legal obligations and protect legal rights.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, I rely on consent for the newsletter and optional analytics, legitimate interests for operating and securing the site, and legal obligations where processing is required by law. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.
Cookies and consent choices
A cookie is a small piece of data stored by your browser. Similar technologies can also store or read information on your device.
- Necessary cookies: Support security, consent storage, and essential website operation. These cannot be disabled through the consent banner.
- Analytics cookies: Help measure visits, page usage, and newsletter confirmations. These are used only when the applicable consent has been granted.
- Functional or performance technologies: May support embedded content, search, caching, and other optional features.
The site does not currently use advertising cookies to display ads.
CookieYes provides the consent banner, and WP Consent API communicates your choice to compatible WordPress plugins. Google Consent Mode adjusts Google Analytics behavior based on that choice. You can accept, reject, or customise optional categories through the banner. You can change or withdraw your choice later using the consent preferences button displayed on the site. You can also delete cookies through your browser settings.
Services that process information
I use service providers only for operating, protecting, measuring, and communicating through the site. Their processing is governed by their own terms and privacy notices.
- Google Site Kit and Google Analytics: Measure website usage and confirmed newsletter subscriptions when consent permits. Google Search Console and PageSpeed Insights provide site-owner reporting. See the Google Privacy Policy.
- Brevo: Hosts the subscription form, stores subscriber email addresses and consent records, sends confirmation emails, and delivers the newsletter. See the Brevo Privacy Policy.
- CookieYes: Manages cookie choices and may maintain consent records, depending on configuration. See the CookieYes Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare: Provides security and anti-abuse services. The newsletter form may use Cloudflare Turnstile to distinguish people from automated submissions. Turnstile processes technical data needed for that security check and does not read form entries. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
- Hostinger: Provides hosting and related infrastructure that may process server logs and technical request data. See the Hostinger Privacy Policy.
- Automattic services: Jetpack, VaultPress, Search, Stats, and Akismet support backups, search, site statistics, security, and spam prevention. These services may process technical request and activity data according to the enabled features. See Automattic’s Privacy Notice for Visitors to Users’ Sites.
- Wordfence: Protects the site from malicious traffic and unauthorized access and may process IP addresses, request details, and security events. See the Wordfence Privacy Policy.
- Zoho Mail: Processes messages sent to the site’s email addresses. See the Zoho Privacy Policy.
Sharing and international processing
I do not sell or rent personal information. Information is shared only with providers needed to run the services described above, when required by law, or when reasonably necessary to prevent harm, fraud, or abuse.
Some providers may process information in countries outside your own. Where required, those providers use contractual or other safeguards described in their privacy and data protection documentation.
Retention
Newsletter information is kept while you remain subscribed and for a limited period afterward where needed to maintain suppression lists, demonstrate consent, resolve delivery problems, or meet legal obligations. You can unsubscribe using the link in any newsletter.
Analytics, consent, security, server-log, email, and backup data follow the retention settings and operational cycles of the relevant service. I delete or anonymise information when it is no longer reasonably needed for the purposes described here, unless a longer period is required by law or necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Embedded content and external links
Articles may include content or links from services such as GitHub, YouTube, LinkedIn, or X. Loading or interacting with embedded content can allow the external provider to collect information as if you had visited its website directly. The provider’s own privacy policy applies.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal information, request portability, withdraw consent, or complain to a data protection authority.
- Use the unsubscribe link in a newsletter to stop receiving it.
- Use the site’s consent preferences control to change optional cookie choices.
- Email [email protected] to make a privacy request.
I may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Rights can be limited where an exemption or legal obligation applies.
Security
I use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including HTTPS, access controls, backups, security monitoring, and anti-abuse measures. No internet service or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Children
This site is written for professional and adult readers and is not directed to children. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy when the website, its providers, or legal requirements change. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
